Container Team Leader (VIC)

Cahill Transport is a growing national transport and logistics business with a history spanning 70 years.  We offer logistic services Australia wide including Truck Haulage, Wharfage and Warehousing.

We are seeking an experienced Container Team Leader to join our dedicated container division within our Head Office site, Laverton North.

Reporting to the Container Allocator, this role will sit within a small, supportive and friendly team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and managing the daily operation.
  • Monitor Import/Export container activity.
  • Provide containers in accordance with customer requests in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Ensure container control systems are maintained.
  • Compile regular data and KPI’s regarding container fleet status.
  • Process booking requests efficiently.
  • Detailed knowledge and a strong commitment to the OH&S requirements of an operating container division.
  • Provide 2IC support to the Container Allocator and Container team members as and when required.
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships internal / external.
  • Liaise with drivers, customers, and management daily.
  • The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and adapt to varying situations.
  • 4.30am – 2pm, Monday to Friday (occasional Saturdays).
  • Rostered after hours (on call).

Competencies:

  • Wharf/container experience – essential.

Local Allocator (VIC)

We’re on the lookout for an experienced Local Allocator to join our supportive team within our Head Office site, Laverton North.

This is best suited to a highly motivated individual with the ability to lead, drive and manage our daily local operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage local operations.
  • Coordinate linehaul arrivals with local departures.
  • Ensure the effective utilisation and scheduling of local fleet.
  • Supporting the warehouse/linehaul division to ensure efficient and timely loading of local freight.
  • Schedule daily manifests.
  • Allocate in a time critical manner to ensure minimum wait times for drivers.
  • Streamline processes to ensure timely dispatching of loads with a sense of urgency.
  • Ensure all elements of fleet operation are met efficiently with maximum optimization of vehicles, drivers and equipment.
  • Communicate respectfully and build string relationships with drivers, customers and all internal team members.
  • Ensure excellent customer service with all carriers and customers.

Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic (VIC)

Cahill Transport is a growing national transport and logistics business with a history spanning 70 years. With a vast network across the country, we have an extensive fleet which includes approximately 300 trailers and 140 trucks.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic to join our busy workshop within our Head Office site, Laverton North.

You will be working on Isuzu, DAF. Kenworth and Volvo and will oversee all aspects of trailer refurbs and all types of services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regular servicing and maintenance. – A, B and C services.
  • Major engine and gear box repairs and rebuilds.
  • Trailer servicing, trailer annuals and repairs.  
  • Ability to diagnose and rectify issues and defects.
  • Carrying out general repairs and modifications as required.
  • Monitor/work with the TA’s in the trailer mechanics workshop, ensuring all equipment is correctly repaired/serviced
  • On call for local breakdowns.
  • 7am start / Mon-Fri (with occasional weekends).

This role will have a key focus in shaping and promoting work health and safety (WHS) and chain of responsibility (CoR) performance standards and consistency across the business. The role will contribute to and provide specialist technical direction, advice, support, and assistance on WHS/ CoR matters in both a Corporate Governance and operational setting.

  • Champion our Think Safe, Home Safe leadership journey to achieve a best practice safety culture.
  • Support management and staff awareness of COR/ WHS responsibilities and accountabilities. 
  • Develop and document procedures and safe work instructions.
  • Encourage the prompt reporting of hazards and incidents.
  • Maintain COR/WHS records including hazard and risk registers.
  • Advice and issue resolution on all NHVR & WHS regulatory matters.
  • Undertake risk assessments of non-complex tasks.
  • Complete NHVR monthly reporting requirements.
  • Lead NHVR external audits for fatigue & mass/ maintenance. accreditation.
  • Contribute to the development of the integrated management system (IMS).

We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our busy Direk, SA site. Reporting to the Regional Manager (SA/NT/WA), we’re looking for a true leader as well as team player. Someone who can demonstrate broad experience in road transport operations as well as adapt to being hand-on.

The role is responsible for efficient and safe operations, providing the operational contact for customers and offering guidance, direction and support to the team and wider business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This is very much a hands-on role and will actively support the loading / preparations of the trailers.
  • Manage warehouse team.

  • Focus on meeting and exceeding customer service delivery.
  • Day to day supervision and co-ordination of warehouse team and local drivers.

Senior Diesel Mechanic (SA)

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Direk, SA site. Reporting to the National Maintenance Manager, this role will support the Western Region – SA, WA & NT.

The successful candidate will be experienced in managing an onsite workshop across multiple site locations. You’ll be skilled in working on   Isuzu, DAF. Kenworth and Volvo. You’ll bring a wealth of knowledge and experience and have the ability to manage, mentor and coach others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regular servicing and maintenance. – A, B and C services.
  • Major engine and gear box repairs and rebuilds.
  • Trailer servicing, trailer annuals and repairs.  
  • Ability to diagnose and rectify issues and defects.
  • Carrying out general repairs and modifications as required.
  • Inventory management of onsite spare parts.
  • Develop continuous improvement plans.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to the onsite apprentice.
  • Ensuring weekly maintenance programs are achieved in accordance with budget.
  • Regular yard equipment audits.
  • Ensuring all fleet leaving site is roadworthy.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean workshop.
  • On call for local breakdowns.
  • Reporting to the National Maintenance manager based at Head Office (Laverton North, VIC).
  • High level customer service skills when communicating with external providers.
  • 6am to 4pm / Mon-Fri (with occasional weekends).

Competencies:

  • Possess a HC licence – essential.
  • Possess a MC – highly desirable.
  • Possess a LF Forklift licence – highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing an onsite workshop and multiple site locations – essential.

PM Warehouse Supervisor (VIC)

We have a national warehousing footprint of over 60,000m2 and offer inventory management, picking and order fulfilment, general and specialised floorspace and much more.

We’re seeking a PM Warehouse Supervisor to join our busy team in Laverton North on a full-time basis. Reporting to Victoria Warehouse Manager this is very much a hands-on role where no 2 days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hours of work – 12.30pm – 9pm / Mon – Fri
  • Monitor freight distribution, timelines, freight security, freight handling care and paperwork management. (mixed palletised freight).
  • Unloading local freight and loading linehaul (approx. 10-15 trucks per night).
  • Daily meetings with local and linehaul allocators.
  • Oversee operations across 2 warehouses (approx. 13,000m2)
  • Maintain warehouse inventory.
  • Prioritise tasks for team members as required (team of 6-8)
  • Conduct toolbox talks.

Competencies:

  • Experience in transport and logistics industry – essential.
  • Forklift licence (LF) – essential.
  • Load restraint and weight distribution experience – essential.
  • Proficient with Word/Excel and Outlook.
  • An understanding of road transport laws, fatigue management and safety requirements.
  • DG experience – highly regarded.

Local HC Driver (QLD)

We’re hiring and if you’re an experienced local HC driver we’d love to hear from you! We have some great full-time opportunities for local HC drivers across various shifts with plenty of overtime.

What’s on offer?

  • Driving between Springwood and various distribution centres daily (up to 4-7 times a day).
  • Manual loading/unloading – using dollies loaded up to 200kg.
